Tree Care & Tree Subsidy Program
The Village plants and maintains trees in the public right-of-way (ROW) throughout the Village. The Village arranges with independent contractors for tree care. Trees in the ROW cannot be removed without the inspection and approval of an arborist and a permit from the State of Maryland.
Details about general tree care, requirements for the protection of trees in the ROW during construction, and ordinances related to tree protection are detailed in Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances – July 2016 for the Village of Martin’s Additions. Please contact the Village Office (manager@martinsadditions.org or 301-656-4112) or The Village's Tree Supervisor Paula Goldberg (paulacgoldberg@hotmail.com) if you have questions about trees in the ROW.
Arbor Day 2023Arbor Day is celebrated every year throughout the globe as a celebration of trees and as an official "tree planting day." It began 151 years ago as a celebration of tree-planting in Nebraska. 2023 marks the 140th year that Maryland has celebrated Arbor Day, and it is on Wednesday, April 5 this year.
This year, we celebrate Arbor Day with a special edition of our Friday Walk with the Village Manager at 12:00 on Friday, April 7, as well as with a tree exploration activity you can do at your leisure. Happy Arbor Day!
