The Village plants and maintains trees in the public right-of-way (ROW) throughout the Village. Currently, the Village Tree Supervisor is resident Dan Gardner. The Village arranges with independent contractors for tree care. Trees in the public right-of-way cannot be removed without inspection and approval of an arborist and a permit from the State of Maryland.
Details about general tree care, requirements for protection of trees in the right-of-way during construction, and ordinances related to tree protection can be found in Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances – July 2016 for the Village of Martin’s Additions. Please contact the Village Office (301-656-4112) if you have questions about trees in the public right-of-way.
